Clinical Specialist Hand Therapist (OT)
Michael has specialised in hand therapy for over 18 years following his graduation in 2006 from Canterbury Christ Church University as an Occupational Therapist (OT). After completing a broad range of clinical rotations within the NHS, he discovered his passion for hand therapy and has dedicated his career to this specialist field. He is an active member of the British Association of Hand Therapy.
Over the course of his career, Michael has gained extensive expertise in the assessment and rehabilitation of hand and upper limb conditions. He continues to work within NHS, and for the past 8 years in private practice. He works closely with the five leading hand consultants across both NHS and private sectors in the East Kent region.
His clinical experience spans trauma and orthopaedics, hand surgery, paediatrics, rheumatology, and complex rehabilitation. He has undertaken numerous postgraduate courses, including MSc-level modules, to advance his knowledge and skills. Michael is highly experienced in taping techniques and in the custom fabrication of thermoplastic and neoprene splints. He is also a certified partner of WeDesign Silver Splints (www.silversplints.com), offering long-term solutions with bespoke support to improve function and reduce pain.
