What happens during my first session?
Your first session includes a full assessment:
- Review of medical and social history
- Movement analysis
- Diagnosis and discussion of your goals
You will typically receive hands-on treatment and a personalised treatment plan.
Why choose hand therapy over general physiotherapy?
Your hand therapist is a registered clinician with advanced training in treating the hand and upper limb.
They provide:
- Specialist assessments and treatment plans

They also collaborate closely with surgeons to optimise post-surgical recovery.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. You may be asked to remove certain items of clothing for through assessment. Your privacy and dignity are always respected
How many sessions will I need?
This varies per individual and depends on:
- Your condition
- The assessment results
- Your personal goals
We will discuss this with you at your initial session.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. We welcome all clients on self-pay basis.
Do you take private insurance, like AXA & BUPA?
We do not accept direct payment from personal private insurance. We welcome clients on self-pay basis. If you have private cover it may be worth checking with your insurance provider. We can provide a copy of receipt of payment with HCPC/ CSP/ RCOT / BAHT membership numbers.
I’m a care manager – can I refer a client?
Yes. Please contact us via phone or email to discuss how we can support your client’s needs.

Yes, we do offer home visits. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements and fees.

Our studio is at the rear of the property. There is ample on-road parking, convenient especially if you’re injured or have limited mobility.
Would I be suitable for silver splints?
M&A Therapies is a proud partner of WeDesign Silversplints, offering long-term splinting solutions for conditions such as:
- Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
- Hypermobility
- Osteoarthritis (OA)
- Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
